Carrier Helps Provide a Comfortable Journey Along Jinan-Qingdao High-Speed Railway

Carrier China has been selected to provide heating, ventilating and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems for four stations along the new Jinan-Qingdao High-speed Railway, which is expected to open by the end of 2018.

Spanning 307.9 kilometers, the Jinan-Qingdao High-speed Railway will welcome crowds of passengers every day and will require strong HVAC systems to ensure a comfortable journey. Carrier’s tailored HVAC solutions will enable four high-speed railway stations to maintain optimal temperatures, even during peak travel seasons.

Carrier China will supply six AquaEdge 19XR water-cooled chillers, two AquaForce 30XW water-cooled screw chillers, three AquaSnap 30RQ air-cooled scroll air-to-water heat pumps, 42CT horizontal concealed fan coils and 39CQ compact air handlers for New Jinan New East Station, Zibo North Station, Weifang North Station and Hongdao Station. Coupled with world-class industry expertise, these products will provide optimal temperature and humidity levels for the comfort of passengers, while minimizing energy consumption.

“Carrier’s extensive air conditioning portfolio has proven its superior quality and performance in a range of extremely demanding applications, from data centers with servers running 24/7, to the train stations with high daily traffic,” said Dong Hongming, general manager of East Region, Carrier China. “We are delighted to play an integral role in the Jinan-Qingdao High-speed Railway project to help create a comfortable space and cool down passengers who are in a rush.

As a key route connecting Qingdao and Jinan, the two main cities of Shandong province, the Jinan-Qingdao High-Speed Railway commenced construction in December 2015. After its completion, this railway is expected to shorten the travel time between the two cities to one hour, in contrast to the four hours needed on the original conventional railway. It will also be connected with the other high-speed railway networks in Beijing, Shanghai, Shijiazhuang, Taiyuan and more.
