Carrier Launches QuantumLeap for Data Center Thermal Management

Carrier Global Corporation has introduced Carrier QuantumLeap, a suite of advanced cooling solutions designed for data centers. As demand for data center cooling grows, with projections reaching $20 billion by 2029, Carrier is expanding its portfolio with energy-efficient systems, customizable aftermarket programs, and strategic collaborations.

"Carrier QuantumLeap represents the next evolution in data center thermal management, integrating our most advanced cooling, controls and service solutions to deliver a highly efficient, state-of-the-art cooling system tailored to each customer's needs," said Christian Senu, Executive Director, Data Centers, Carrier.

Comprehensive Cooling Solutions

Carrier QuantumLeap provides a fully integrated system for thermal management, optimizing efficiency across data centers. Key features include:

  • Chillers and air handling solutions: Next-generation chillers with magnetic bearing technology, free cooling, and optimized energy use, improving efficiency by 30% over previous models.
  • Liquid cooling: Carrier’s Cooling Distribution Unit (CDU) integrates with direct-to-chip (DTC) liquid cooling for high-density applications.
  • Advanced controls: The Automated Logic building management system enables precise control of thermal environments.
  • Data center management: Carrier Nlyte is deployed in 300+ data centers, optimizing over one million racks and 10 million data points for energy savings and efficiency.
  • Predictive maintenance: Carrier's Abound digital platform provides real-time insights, remote diagnostics, and predictive maintenance, enhancing reliability and minimizing downtime.

Investments and Expansion

Carrier is driving innovation in data center cooling through strategic investments and capacity expansion:

  • Investment in Strategic Thermal Labs (STL): Carrier Ventures invested in STL, an Austin-based research firm specializing in liquid cooling technologies for high-performance computing.
  • Manufacturing and engineering growth: Carrier plans to double its commercial HVAC manufacturing capacity in North America and expand engineering labs to meet rising demand.

With Carrier QuantumLeap, the company aims to support AI-driven data center growth through efficient and intelligent thermal management solutions.
