Carrier Launches TechVantage Initiative to Bolster U.S. HVAC Workforce

Carrier Global Corporation has introduced its TechVantage Initiative, aiming to hire 1,000 service technicians and train over 100,000 HVAC professionals across the United States within the next five years. The initiative addresses the increasing demand for technical expertise in the commercial HVAC sector, fueled by the growth of data centers, industrial facilities, and large-scale infrastructure projects.

David Gitlin, Chairman & CEO of Carrier, emphasized the initiative’s role in transforming the workforce:
"Through the Carrier TechVantage Initiative, we're addressing critical workforce gaps and setting a new standard for excellence in HVAC service. By investing in a world-class training program, we are shaping the future of technician development and creating an initiative designed to attract, develop, and empower the very best talent."

Investment in Training Facilities and Workforce Development

Carrier’s commitment to workforce innovation is evident through its significant investments:

  • Carrier University: Opened in 2024 in Charlotte, N.C., this $4 million facility has provided 22,000 hours of in-person training for commercial HVAC technicians.
  • Indianapolis Training Center: Since 2023, this $2 million facility has delivered 15,000 hours of advanced training for residential HVAC technicians.
  • Apprenticeship Programs: Offering mentorship and practical experience to develop emerging talent.
  • Collaborative Partnerships: Working with vocational and technical institutions to prepare technicians for future HVAC challenges.

In 2024 alone, Carrier delivered approximately 132,000 hours of training, benefiting 20,000 technicians through various formats, including in-person, virtual, and online platforms.

Preparing Technicians for the Future

The TechVantage Initiative incorporates advanced digital tools like diagnostics, predictive maintenance, and remote monitoring, enabling technicians to deliver faster and smarter service. These innovations aim to enhance customer experience and establish a new benchmark for HVAC service excellence.

By combining job creation, training, and technology, Carrier’s TechVantage Initiative positions the company at the forefront of workforce transformation and the HVAC industry's evolution.
