Carrier Transicold Brings Engineless Refrigeration to Germany

Carrier Transicold’s ICELAND engineless multi-temperature undermount refrigeration unit is making its Germany exhibition debut at the Transport Logistic show. This new generation of transport refrigeration technology aims to improve sustainability for fleets. Carrier Transicold, which operates in Germany as Carrier Transicold Deutschland GmbH, is a part of UTC Climate, Controls & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. The electric system offers a cooling capacity of up to 18,400 watts and operates with Carrier Transicold’s ECO-DRIVE GenSet to harvest power from the truck’s clean Euro VI engine. This helps fleets reduce their environmental impact by cutting emissions and improving fuel efficiency, whilst also reducing maintenance costs. Configured with dual compressors and economisers, the ICELAND unit operates on different refrigerating circuits, which helps maintain maximum capacity, even at idle. For multi-temperature applications, this means there is no power drain created by having to separate the power of a single compressor across two compartments, making it efficient for operators and enabling the system to provide cooling and heating at the same time. “With this addition to our range we can offer the equivalent power capacity of a high output trailer unit,” said Andreas Wallmeyer, managing director, Carrier Transicold, Central Europe. “Mounted beneath a rigid truck or drawbar chassis, the system features very few moving parts and is extremely quiet, operating below 60dB. It’s the ideal transport refrigeration system for urban distribution truck fleets requiring a high cooling capacity from low engine speed and with limited impact on the environment.” Enhancing service offerings for improved fleet efficiency Carrier Transicold will also present its wide range of services to improve fleet efficiency. Carrier Transicold’s everCOLD full-service maintenance package provides customers with several options, including international coverage, regulatory checks, or service and repair of ancillary devices, such as temperature recorders and telematics systems. Fleet managers can pay monthly, quarterly or annually, with the advantage of knowing exact costs for the duration of the contract, regardless of how much maintenance is required, or when the need for maintenance is identified. EverCOLD agreements include all recommended maintenance, carried out by manufacturer-trained technicians using genuine performance parts. EverCOLD also provides full access to oneCALL 24/7 year-round breakdown assistance and to Carrier Transicold’s extensive service network in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, which features more than 600 service centres.   Read More
