Chemours (Delaware, US) and 2CRSi (France) announced a Joint Development Agreement (JDA) following the successful qualification of Chemours’ Opteon two-phase immersion cooling fluid in current-generation 2CRSi servers. The companies said the agreement aims to accelerate the development and deployment of two-phase cooling technologies for high-density IT infrastructure, including direct-to-chip and immersion systems, to support AI and next-generation chips.
Chemours and 2CRSi said the collaboration will combine Chemours’ thermal management expertise with 2CRSi’s server design capabilities to address near- and long-term data center and IT cooling demands. The companies framed the partnership around end-user and environmental benefits.
Chemours said its Opteon two-phase liquid cooling solutions can deliver up to a 90% reduction in data center cooling energy compared to traditional air cooling, a power usage effectiveness (PUE) approaching 1, and reductions in water consumption. The company also cited a “circular solution through fluid recovery and reuse,” and said accelerated life cycle testing confirms compatibility with industry-standard IT components.
2CRSi linked the technology to its decarbonization focus and said it has commercialized ultra-high-density servers using two-phase cooling, including the Atlas 1.8GG 2PIC model that houses 8 NVIDIA H200 GPUs in a 1U format. The companies said their work will also target advanced formats such as 15 kW (approx. 51,200 BTU/h), 1U servers powered by Nvidia GPUs.
