China’s CAR, U-3ARC sign MoU on Africa HVACR training

The Chinese Association of Refrigeration (CAR) and the Union of African Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Associations (U-3ARC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding in China on 8 April 2026 to expand technical cooperation in refrigeration, air-conditioning and related technologies. The agreement centres on training, standardization and the exchange of expertise.

According to the source, the MoU covers the sharing of technical information for training programmes, the cross-participation of experts in conferences and professional events, cooperation on standards, technical codes and competency assessment systems, and the mutual dissemination of publications and sector-related news.

The agreement is aimed at expanding opportunities for African technicians as demand for cold-chain and climate-control infrastructure rises across the continent. The source says the cooperation could improve access to technical content, support certification pathways and strengthen recognition in regional and international markets.

The organisations also plan joint initiatives in innovation, including energy efficiency, environmentally friendly refrigerants and solutions adapted to African contexts. The source links these areas to rapid urban growth and increasing demand for cold-chain systems.

Under the agreement, CAR and U-3ARC committed to meet at least once a year to review progress and identify new areas of collaboration.
