City Facilities Management expands technician training with Beijer Ref Academy

City Facilities Management has expanded its technician training initiatives across Australia through ongoing collaboration with Beijer Ref Academy and SCM REF Australia. The programs, running throughout 2025, focus on CO₂ Safety, CO₂ Systems Repair and Service, Advanced Transcritical CO₂ Systems, and Low GWP and Flammable Refrigerants.

The training targets all experience levels, from apprentices to seasoned technicians, and includes nationally accredited courses through the Superior Training Centre (RTO 41122).

The Advanced Transcritical CO₂ Systems course, developed by SCM REF Australia in collaboration with City’s Technical Training Lead Anthony Hasphall, addresses system efficiency through advanced controls, service strategies, and hands-on fault diagnostics.

SCM REF Australia Sales Manager Jason Pearce highlighted the practical benefits of the programs and their alignment with safety and qualification standards. City Senior Refrigeration Specialist Brian Toulson also commended the Low GWP and Flammable Refrigerants course, which focuses on safe handling and installation of refrigerants such as R290, R600, and R1270 under UEE-recognised training.

“Our mission was clear: elevate our technicians' expertise. To achieve this, we joined forces with the SCM REF Australia team and developed a program precisely shaped to meet our exact needs,” said Hasphall.

Toulson added, “Having a well-trained technical base will reduce risks and ensure a safe transition. Well done to Beijer on this initiative.”
