The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment, and Water in Australia has announced the opening of a public consultation on options to reduce the use of high Global Warming Potential (GWP) Hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) refrigerants in the commercial and industrial refrigeration sector.
The Department is exploring additional measures to cut greenhouse gas emissions through the Ozone Protection and Synthetic Greenhouse Gas Management Act (1989). The goal is to gather public input on effective strategies to minimize the use of high GWP refrigerants.
