Copeland and Hitachi Introduce Innovative Chiller Solution in Brazil

Copeland, a global leader in climate technology solutions and a top compressor supplier, has partnered with Hitachi to launch the airCenter Scroll R-32, an innovative chiller equipped with high-efficiency Copeland scroll compressors. This new chiller aims to provide the Brazilian HVAC-R sector with a unique blend of performance, sustainability, and reliability.

The Copeland scroll compressors used in the airCenter Scroll R-32 are specifically designed to operate with R-32 refrigerant, which boasts a significantly lower Global Warming Potential (GWP) than traditional refrigerants. This advancement underscores a deliberate and responsible approach towards environmental sustainability, complying with stringent international and local environmental standards.

"Copeland scroll compressors are globally recognized for their energy efficiency and durability, essential to Hitachi's standards of excellence. This partnership emphasizes both companies' commitment to providing products that meet customer needs while promoting environmental sustainability and maximum energy efficiency," said André Stoqui, Business Director at Copeland.

He further emphasized that Copeland prioritizes offering the most efficient products for a wide range of applications, including chillers. "We focus on developing scroll compressors dedicated to each refrigerant type for maximum energy efficiency. For instance, we have the ZP line for R410-A, the YA line for R454-B, and the YP line for R-32, thus achieving the best results for each application."

With a capacity range of 40 to 200 TR, the airCenter Scroll R-32 sets a new benchmark in the chiller market. It offers a low carbon footprint solution for commercial and industrial applications that demand high performance and reliability. When connected in tandem, the scroll compressors provide flexible capacity modulation, ensuring system operation even if one compressor fails.

"The airCenter Scroll R-32 is the result of an ongoing effort by Hitachi in collaboration with Copeland to deliver market-leading products aligned with decarbonization goals, a vital aspect of transitioning towards a sustainability-focused portfolio," remarked Gerson Robaina, Director of Product and Engineering at Hitachi.

Benefits of Scroll for R-32:

  • Superior Energy Efficiency: Thanks to Copeland scroll compressors, the chiller delivers optimized energy performance, significantly reducing operational costs.
  • Environmental Sustainability: The use of R-32 refrigerant minimizes environmental impact, helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Reliability and Durability: Copeland scroll compressors are renowned for their long life and reliable operation, ensuring a robust and enduring climate control solution.
  • Quiet Operation: The scroll technology ensures quieter operation, making it ideal for commercial environments that require acoustic comfort.
