Daikin Malaysia Launches Joint Venture for Commercial HVAC in Taiwan
Daikin Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., a subsidiary of Daikin Industries, Ltd., has partnered with Hotai Development Co., Ltd. and LEADING Electric & Machinery Co., Ltd. to establish a joint venture focused on large-sized commercial HVAC equipment in Taiwan. Operations have commenced, with the new company set to manufacture air handling units (AHUs) tailored for the Taiwanese market. An opening ceremony was held on January 21, 2025, at the new production facility in Changhua County, Taiwan.

LEADING Electric & Machinery Co., Ltd., a Taiwanese manufacturer founded in 1981, specializes in industrial HVAC equipment, including chillers and AHUs. With a strong presence in the semiconductor industry, the company brings expertise in advanced specifications, in-house component manufacturing, and a robust maintenance system to the partnership.

Expanding Daikin’s Market Presence in Taiwan

The Daikin Group, in collaboration with Hotai Development, has steadily grown its HVAC sales in Taiwan, spanning residential, commercial, and industrial markets. Since 2017, the company has focused on expanding its large-sized commercial HVAC operations, targeting installations in retail stores, office buildings, and large-scale commercial facilities.

With the semiconductor industry driving much of Taiwan's economic activity, demand for high-performance HVAC solutions has risen sharply. Taiwan’s prominent role in the global semiconductor supply chain presents significant growth opportunities for HVAC systems that meet the stringent demands of cleanroom environments and other specialized applications.

Aims of the Joint Venture

The joint venture combines Daikin’s global production expertise with LEADING’s established capabilities in AHU manufacturing for semiconductor applications. This collaboration aims to deliver total HVAC solutions by integrating Daikin chillers with LEADING’s AHUs, catering to the specific needs of Taiwan's semiconductor sector.

Daikin Malaysia stated that this initiative is part of a broader strategy to transfer expertise in semiconductor HVAC applications to other markets, including data centers, while addressing energy efficiency and decarbonization goals.

By leveraging its expertise and integrating advanced technologies, the Daikin Group is poised to support the continued growth of Taiwan’s semiconductor industry and contribute to global progress in IT and digitalization.
