Daikin opens new air conditioning plant in south India
Daikin Air-conditioning India Pvt. Ltd., (Headquarters: Gurgaon, Haryana, India) has established a new manufacturing base for air conditioners in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, in southern India. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Mr. Nivruti Rai, CEO of Invest India, Mr. Sujan Chinoy, former Ambassador of India to Japan and Mr. Masayuki Taga, Consul General of Japan in Chennai.

In addition to the two existing plants located in Neemrana, Rajasthan, in northern India, the Sri City plant is the Company's third major plant in India. The Sri City plant will produce air conditioners and compressors for home use, which are the main components of air conditioners. The new plant will significantly increase production capacity in India to meet growing demand in India and will also improve energy efficiency.

“Daikin has approximately 100 production sites worldwide and operates in more than 170 countries,” said Masanori Sogo, President and CEO, who attended the opening ceremony. But India has a special significance among them. By establishing a new manufacturing base in India, I would like to reiterate the importance of India in Daikin's global strategy. The country's dynamic market and skilled workforce are essential to our mission and we are confident that this new location will enable us to offer air conditioning solutions." "We are confident that this will not only enhance the level of air conditioning in India but will also make a significant contribution to growth of the air conditioning industry in India and surrounding regions."

Kanwal Jeet Jawa, President, Daikin Air Conditioning India, said, "This plant will significantly increase Daikin's production capacity and provide strong support to India." This will further strengthen the company's commitment to growth in the region. The new plant will make a significant contribution to the continued success of Daikin in India and to the strengthening of a long-term partnership that promotes mutual success. In addition, Daikin is actively promoting domestic air conditioner manufacturing as a key target company of the Indian government's Industrial Linkage Incentive (PLI) scheme.

In our strategic management plan for FUSION25, one of our priority themes is “making India a major base”. Including the newly established Sri City plant, we are expanding our business from our manufacturing bases in India to neighboring countries in Asia, the Middle East, Africa and other regions with high outdoor temperatures and harsh climatic conditions. We plan to export our products. By distributing our air conditioners with high energy efficiency and low environmental impact in India and surrounding areas, we will achieve our goal of becoming an automotive air conditioner by 2050. We will intensify our efforts to achieve Bonn neutrality and ensure a healthy and comfortable air environment for many people,” he added.
