As the applications for CO₂ refrigeration systems expand, it has become clear that there is a need to increase competences around its use in the industry. To address this growing concern, Danfoss presents the Mobile Training Unit equipped with CO₂ solutions and interactive learning modules for transport across the globe to support our worldwide community.

CO₂ is rapidly advancing in food retail refrigeration as traditional HFCs are phased out and retailers are looking for ways to reduce their carbon footprint. Technology and components for CO₂ refrigeration are available today but there is a need for system builders, refrigeration contractors, service technicians, installers, and the technical departments of food retailers to raise their level of know-how in order to harvest the full potential of these CO₂ systems.

The training unit features equipment and components for CO₂ solutions, accompanied by hands-on training panels, with on-site instruction by dedicated Danfoss CO₂ champions who will share their in-depth knowledge of the natural refrigerant’s properties and the opportunities and challenges surrounding the use of CO₂.”
The CO₂ solutions presented in the mobile training unit range from simple gas-bypass systems to more complex parallel compression solutions with or without heat reclaim. Moreover, the training unit introduces Danfoss’ brand new ejector technology, which industry experts recognize as key in the evolution of transcritical CO₂ refrigeration. These ejectors have the potential to enhance the energy efficiency of their systems by up to 20% on the hottest days of the year, thereby solving a problem that previously limited the use of transcritical CO₂ systems to milder climates.
Technologies for CO₂ refrigeration are still evolving to offer enhanced performance while increasing the ease of use. As it travels to new locations, the mobile training unit will be constantly updated with new components, know-how, and learning modules to reflect these changes.
The first stop of the mobile training unit is Danfoss’ USA headquarters in Baltimore, Maryland on January 10, 2017. Our goal is to launch several training containers that can serve the primary markets in North America, Europe, and Asia. The training unit can accommodate up to 12 people at a time.
