Danfoss launches world-class facilities in China

Danfoss has announced the opening of a new Application Development Center (ADC) for its Power Solutions businesses, and the inauguration of its first Turbocor assembly line in China.

The two new facilities represent the latest technology development, demonstrates the company’s commitment to the China market, and have Danfoss well positioned to meet the needs of its customers’ growing business in China and the Asia Pacific Regions. “We are pleased to see China’s reassured commitment to green development,” says Kim Fausing, President and CEO of Danfoss A/S, and adds: “Danfoss has China as our ‘Second Home Market’.”

“Through companies like Danfoss, the bilateral cooperation between Denmark and China within clean technology and green growth has been making tremendous progress, where Danish technology and solutions behind the Danish Zero Carbon Economy are widely known and applied in China,” says Nicolai Prytz, Consul General of Denmark in Shanghai, ” The facilities launched here today are new milestones of the bilateral cooperation that will help China and industries on their way to green transition.”

The new ADC, when fully utilized, will be able to effectively accommodate the requests for application performance testing of mobile vehicles for road building, earth moving, construction and agriculture machinery. It will enable Danfoss to provide even stronger system solution development, and more overall value and stronger partnership with customers, especially in construction and agricultural machinery industries. Grand Opening_exhibitionHR Following its mobile hydraulics industry-exclusive facilities in Nordborg in Denmark and Ames in the U S, the Haiyan ADC is the third test track for Danfoss Power Solutions. The construction of the facility was welcomed by the company’s customers, and testing plans had been scheduled long before the official launch, with requests coming in from XCMG (Xuzhou Construction Machinery Group) – the second-largest machinery manufacturer in China, and Lovol, the largest agricultural equipment manufacturer in China, among others. “With the new Application Development Center ready, our capabilities are taken to a new level, enabling us to optimize applications beyond our customers’ own insight,” says Steven Zhou, President of Danfoss Power Solutions China. With the continued drive of the Belt & Road initiative, China’s industry leaders are looking to the countries along the routes for more business opportunities, among which are Danfoss Power Solutions’ key customers, such as Sany, XCMG, Lovol, and other construction and agricultural machinery manufacturers. The ADC will help customers reduce cost, shorten development lead time and minimize technical risks through real-time collaboration between Danfoss teams on different sites and customer teams, leading to increased value that ensures the success of their global business development. Understanding the customers’ applications and even exceeding their expectations is key to Danfoss’ global competitive advantages, which have been solidly built up over the past 80 years through the company’s global operations. In recent years, Danfoss has established a global network of Application Development Centers to provide industry partners in different industries with a collaborative laboratory environment and the application expertise necessary to meet challenges. With the help of interconnected digital networks across the world, Danfoss’ ADC teams can now work together to provide professional system-level testing to help customers improve performance, and validate new concepts and develop products and solutions that meet key challenges in today’s and tomorrow’s market.

Danfoss Cooling Segment’s Turbocor factory in China
As an important base for the assembly and the manufacturing of Turbocor oil-free compressors, the Danfoss Turbocor factory in China is the company’s first assembly line for Turbocor TT compressors for the domestic market and the future Asia-Pacific market. The factory introduces world-class traceability, Pokayoke design, automation system, and an intelligent facility to deliver high-quality localized products for the Chinese and APEC markets, and to ensure their outstanding energy-saving impact, which will last over the lifetime of our customers’ cooling systems.

“Danfoss’ new Turbocor factory is a demonstration of our commitment to China market by bringing cutting-edge technology to the market, not only to explore business opportunities, but also to promote the overall development of the industry in support of the country’s ‘Made-in-China 2025’ initiative,” said Ricardo Schneider, Vice President and General Manager of Danfoss Turbocor, at the grand opening ceremony. “The new factory enables a faster and more agile market response, and gives cost and delivery advantages due to the proximity to suppliers and customers, improving the competitiveness of our value chain partners in China.”

As the pioneer and global market leader for oil-free centrifugal compressors, Danfoss’ globally renowned Turbocor technology has been widely recognized by customers around the globe, winning awards from many prestigious organizations including the USA EPA, AHRI/ASHRAE USA, Natural Resources Canada, and the Institute of Refrigeration in the United Kingdom. The compressors are transforming the commercial HVAC market with innovative technology that redefines lifetime operating costs for mid-range chiller and rooftop applications, offering new horizons for building owners looking for high efficiency in buildings and factories.
The new line in Haiyan will put Danfoss in an even stronger position to change the game of competition in China, and thereby maintain the company’s industry leadership position globally and in China, currently the largest chiller market in the world, for oil-free centrifugal compressors.
