ebm-papst Group officially opened a new facility in Oradea, Romania, on June 2, 2026, following an investment of approximately €30 million. The fan and motor manufacturer said the site supports its “Local for Local” strategy and strengthens proximity to customers and partners in Eastern Europe.
The facility in Oradea II Industrial Park brings production, research and development, and service functions under one roof. The R&D center is intended for the design and testing of new generations of fans, while a central service area will support the group’s international business processes.
The building was completed within ten months on a plot of approximately 5.5 hectares (13.6 acres). It has a gross floor area of 19,200 m² (206,668 ft²), including a 1,200 m² (12,917 ft²) research and development center, 4,100 m² (44,132 ft²) of production space, 5,300 m² (57,049 ft²) for warehouse and logistics areas, and 3,200 m² (34,445 ft²) for office and administrative areas. The site has 257 rooms and offers expansion potential of up to 10,000 m² (107,639 ft²).
ebm-papst said planning and implementation focused on energy efficiency and sustainable land use. The site includes a smart building management system, photovoltaic modules for on-site power generation, green spaces, and lounge and meeting spaces for employees.
The company currently employs around 200 people in Romania and plans to create additional jobs over the next five years, particularly in production, service, and administration. The new facility follows the group’s strategic realignment in Eastern Europe after the sale of its IDT division to Siemens last year.
“With this new facility, we are consolidating production, development, and services in Eastern Europe, thereby significantly enhancing our responsiveness to European customers,” says Frank Mayer, Chief Operations Officer of the ebm-papst Group and CEO of Air Technology Europe.
