ebm‑papst Partners with Siemens for Global Digital Transformation

The ebm‑papst Group has announced a long-term strategic partnership with Siemens AG to enhance its global engineering environment. Leveraging Siemens' Teamcenter software for Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) from the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio, the collaboration aims to establish a global PLM platform and accelerate ebm‑papst’s digital transformation strategy.

As the world’s leading manufacturer of fans and motors, ebm‑papst intends to use Teamcenter to standardize processes across its global locations. This initiative is designed to foster collaboration and enable the development of innovative digital business models, facilitating customized solutions for its customers.

Driving Standardization and Innovation

“The strategic collaboration with Siemens enables us to establish standard processes in our company globally. We not only rely on the latest digital solutions, but also on Siemens' experience as the market leader for PLM software,” said Klaus Geißdörfer, CEO of ebm‑papst.

The new PLM platform will streamline processes across all stages of product development, including strategy, design, simulation, validation, and delivery. The use of advanced technologies, such as digital twins and artificial intelligence, will play a pivotal role in enhancing operational efficiency and supporting new business models.

Supporting Digital Transformation

Frances Evans, senior vice president of Lifecycle Collaboration Software at Siemens Digital Industries Software, emphasized Siemens' role in empowering businesses to transform. “Digital transformation, powered by Siemens Xcelerator, is enabling pioneers across many industry sectors to reevaluate their critical business processes and build new, exciting opportunities for their customers. We look forward to working with the team to help fulfill its ambitions.”

Tomas Smetana, CTO of ebm‑papst, highlighted the importance of PLM in achieving agile and efficient product development. “Product Lifecycle Management is the basis for transparent, efficient and, above all, agile product development. Siemens is helping us to achieve these goals with its PLM software. It is an important building block for the digital transformation of our company.”

Advancing Technologies and Collaboration

This partnership not only reinforces ebm‑papst’s commitment to technological innovation but also enables Siemens to further demonstrate its leadership in PLM solutions. By working together, the companies aim to explore and implement cutting-edge technologies like AI, digital twins, and model-based system engineering.

“ebm‑papst and Siemens bring the highest level of technical expertise to the partnership. We can therefore learn a lot from each other and work together on the latest technologies,” added Klaus Geißdörfer.

Through this collaboration, ebm‑papst and Siemens are setting a benchmark for digital transformation in engineering, underscoring their dedication to innovation and customer-focused solutions.
