ecop has been awarded €8.5 million from the European Innovation Council (EIC) Accelerator, securing significant funding to advance its Rotation Heat Pump. Chosen from nearly 1,000 applicants, ecop’s CEO Fabian Sacharowitz and CTO Bernhard Adler impressed the jury with the technology's decarbonization potential.
The EIC Accelerator offers up to €2.5 million in grants, plus equity investments to deep-tech startups and small companies. ecop was awarded the full €2.5 million grant and up to €6 million in equity investment. This funding will support scaling the production of the Rotation Heat Pump.
Out of 969 applicants, 347 moved to the jury interview phase, and 68 were selected for the final funding round. ecop was the sole Austrian company among the finalists. The total funding pool was €411 million, divided into €165 million in grants and €245 million in equity, distributed by the EIC Fund.
CEO Fabian Sacharowitz stated, “The EU’s innovation ecosystem has been crucial as ecop developed our technology and business. This funding will enable us to finalize our new rotor design and scale up, making our heat pump solution widely available, helping companies and municipalities generate affordable, CO2-free heat.”
Christian Müller, CEO for the DACH region at ecop investor EIT InnoEnergy, added, “ecop’s unique solution is revolutionizing heat pump technology for high-temperature industrial processes and district heating. The EIC Accelerator funding confirms that ecop’s innovation is ready to scale. We support ecop fully and congratulate the team on this achievement.”
