Emerson Climate Technologies Manufacturing Facility Celebrates Copeland Scroll Compressor Production Milestone

After introducing Copeland Scroll compressor technology to the market in 1987 and reaching nearly 100 million installations in 2012, Emerson Climate Technologies, Inc., a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR) celebrated a production milestone this month. On September 9, 2015, the company’s compressor manufacturing facility in Lebanon, Missouri produced its 50 millionth compressor.

“We are fortunate to have some of the most dedicated people in the industry engineering and manufacturing our Copeland Scroll compressors,” said Brent Schroeder, president of the Air Conditioning business of Emerson Climate Technologies. “The industry has come to recognize Copeland Scroll technology for its reliability and efficiency and each generation of our scroll compressors has expanded on that promise.  We are also equally excited about the future, as scroll technology is expanding in the areas of modulation and electronics to meet the ever increasing needs of the industry.”

The Lebanon facility, which employs approximately 900, celebrated its 50 millionth compressor in early September, 21 years after production started at the plant. The facility produces Copeland Scroll compressors for use in residential and light commercial air conditioning systems. Employees and their families gathered on September 12 to celebrate the milestone.

Emerson ushered in a new phase of energy efficiency for the HVACR industry 28 years ago with the launch of Copeland Scroll technology in 1987. By 1992, the company had produced one million Copeland Scroll compressors. Today, Emerson manufactures Copeland Scroll compressors in nine facilities on three continents. Copeland Scroll compressors are used by all the major OEM air conditioning and refrigeration system providers in the U.S. as well as many others globally.
