EPEE Participates In The Abu Dhabi Climate Summit

On 30 June, EPEE Director General Andrea Voigt participated in the Abu Dhabi Climate Summit. More than 1,000 government ministers, energy experts and business leaders discussed how to reduce emissions in different sectors such as energy, transport and industry.

Andrea Voigt represented the cooling sector at the leader roundtable on Energy Efficiency and delivered three key messages:

  1. Business as usual is not an option.
  2. Industry is ready and technologies are available to reduce energy demand, increase energy efficiency and facilitate the transition to renewable energies for access to cooling for all.
  3. Support from governments is needed, and cross-sectoral cooperation is of key importance. That’s why an initiative such as the Cool Coalition can be very beneficial in bringing together stakeholders from different areas to join forces in defining the best way forward for cooling, whether it’s about the cold chain, medicine, comfort, or health!
