Epta to acquire Hauser, expanding presence in European retail refrigeration

Epta S.p.A., a global provider of commercial refrigeration solutions, has signed a binding agreement to integrate Austrian company Hauser GmbH into its group. The move aims to strengthen Epta’s competitiveness in the retail sector across Europe.

The combined entity will have approximately €2 billion in consolidated revenues and employ around 10,000 people. Hauser’s market position in the DACH region and Central-Eastern Europe will complement Epta’s international operations, enhancing the group's footprint in countries including Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, the UK, and France. Hauser operates production plants in Austria and the Czech Republic.

The transaction will enable Epta and Hauser to jointly offer a wider range of commercial refrigeration systems and services, emphasizing sustainability and digital innovation. The partnership covers design, production, installation, and maintenance, supported by an extensive professional network throughout Europe.

Following completion, Epta will hold approximately 86% of the combined group, while the foundation established by Mr. Hauser will retain about 14%. Hauser will be represented on Epta’s Board of Directors. The deal is expected to close by the end of 2025, pending approval by European antitrust authorities.

Marco Nocivelli, CEO of Epta, stated: “The union of the Epta and Hauser families marks the beginning of a new chapter in European industrial excellence, built on shared values, vision, and a deep commitment to innovation and sustainability.”

Thomas Loibl, CEO of Hauser, added: “With Epta as a strong partner, we are continuing our tradition as a family business while strengthening our international presence. This step ensures the company's sustainable development, provides stability in an economically volatile environment, and opens up new opportunities for HAUSER.”
