First Phase of Carrier China's New Manufacturing Campus Enters Operation

The first phase of Carrier China’s new world-class manufacturing campus in Shanghai is officially in operation, allowing for improved production lines for airside and light commercial applications of heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) products. Scheduled for completion in 2021, the new campus will enable Carrier to better meet its ever-growing local and regional customer demands. Carrier China is a part of Carrier, a leading global provider of innovative HVAC, refrigeration, fire, security and building automation technologies.

With an investment of over US$110 million, this new manufacturing facility is positioned to combine excellence in process technology and project implementation with outstanding manufacturing efficiency, product quality and safety performance. Covering an area of approximately 95,000 square meters, the new campus will house Carrier China’s compressor production lines by end of 2018 and chiller production lines in 2021 when it reaches its full operational capacity.

"Carrier entered China in 1987 as the first U.S. HVAC manufacturer in China. In the last three decades, we have witnessed and supported the urbanization of China," said George Li, vice president, Carrier China HVAC. "The rise of green buildings in China has boosted the market needs for energy efficient building solutions including and the construction of this new plant is one of the ways we can better serve our customers, by making environmentally sustainable and advanced HVAC solutions more accessible to our local and regional customers."

As a leader in energy efficiency and sustainability, Carrier takes its environmental footprint seriously and the new plant will be certified through a variety of energy and efficiency measures. The office building is designed to meet the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Gold standards while the manufacturing facilities are designed to LEED Silver standards.
