Initiatives mark progress in sustainable refrigeration and air conditioning sector.
Grenada’s refrigeration and air conditioning (RAC) sector is advancing toward climate-friendly cooling following the successful conclusion of the Cooling for Industry and Infrastructure (C4II) and the Cool Contributions Fighting Climate Change Phase II (COPA) projects. Both initiatives were implemented in cooperation with the National Ozone Unit of Grenada and supported by Germany’s BMWK and BMUV ministries.
The closing event, featured in a recent Grenada Information Service (GIS) segment, brought together representatives from the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), local stakeholders, and political partners to reflect on project outcomes. The efforts focused on building institutional and technical capacities, with an emphasis on sustainable sectoral development.
The C4II project continues as a follow-up to COPA, adapting proven methodologies and creating new tools that can be replicated in other countries. These tools support the transition to low-emission cooling systems aligned with Grenada’s national climate commitments. By linking sector-specific action with Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), the initiatives aim to unlock significant greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction potential.

The projects are part of broader efforts under the German government's International Climate Initiative (IKI), which seeks to strengthen climate resilience and promote sustainable technologies worldwide.
