Haier Appoints Stephen Gill as Head of Industry Insights for HVAC Europe

Haier HVAC Solutions has named Stephen Gill as Head of Industry Insights, reinforcing its strategic focus on sector engagement and knowledge leadership across the European HVAC market.

Gill joins Haier following the recent recruitment of industry figure Graham Hendra. Widely recognized for his role in founding World Refrigeration Day (WRD) in 2019, Gill brings decades of expertise in HVACR policy, advocacy, and professional development. WRD, supported by over 100 global associations—including ASHRAE, IIR, and UNEP—has become a fixture in the global refrigeration calendar, promoting awareness of the sector's vital societal role.

In his new role, Gill will represent Haier at international forums, events, and industry bodies, drawing on his experience with key organizations. He is a past President of the Institute of Refrigeration (IOR) and currently Vice President of the ASHRAE UK Chapter. His previous positions include board member at ACRIB and chair of ASHRAE’s Refrigeration Committee. He has contributed to technical working groups on Data Centres, Heat Pumps, and Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ).

Gill’s active affiliations also include CIBSE and the UK Energy Institute. He participates in United Nations initiatives such as the UN Cool Coalition and UNEP’s Women in Cooling programme.

“We are extremely excited to have Stephen Gill come on board with Haier and enable him to continue to support the industry,” said Bob Cowlard, CEO, Haier HVAC Europe. “He is an exceptional figure and his reputation as a visionary leader and his deep understanding of the HVAC landscape will be instrumental to our own developments and helping us to give back to the industry.”

“I’m delighted to be joining Haier HVAC Solutions at such an exciting time,” Stephen Gill told RefIndustry. “This role offers a valuable platform to continue supporting the global HVACR community, share insights gained over my career, and contribute to Haier’s growing impact on the international stage.”
