Helix Earth Technologies, Inc., a Houston-based innovator in clean tech hardware, has announced a successful $5.6 million seed funding round. The oversubscribed financing was led by Veriten, alongside Anthropocene Ventures, Semilla Capital, and others, including individual investors from key innovation hubs like Silicon Valley, Boston, Houston, and Europe.
The funding will accelerate the development of Helix Earth's groundbreaking commercial air conditioning technology, which can cut energy usage by up to 50%. The solution, currently in the pilot phase, promises significant reductions in emissions and operating costs with a projected payback period of three years or less.
"This investment empowers us to disrupt the commercial air conditioning market with an innovative solution ready for prime time," said Rawand Rasheed, CEO and co-founder of Helix Earth. The company leverages NASA-developed technology exclusively licensed to them.
Veriten's founder, Maynard Holt, expressed excitement over the partnership, citing the broad applicability and measurable impact of Helix Earth's technology as key factors in their decision to invest.
Founded in 2022 by Rice University alumni, Helix Earth is also working on solutions for commercial humidity control and carbon capture, supported by grants from the National Science Foundation and the US Department of Energy.
