Güntner-Tata Refrigeration Technology Limited’s 65 thousand square metre new logistics centre, which is fitted with digitalised solutions, was officially inaugurated on Wednesday. At the event, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó told reporters that the Hungarian government provided 1.6 billion forints (EUR 4.47 million) in non-returnable funding towards the development project. The
Güntner Group realised a total investment of 7.7 billion forints (EUR 21.5 million).
Mr. Szijjártó highlighted that 150 new workplaces have been created at the Tata plant thanks to the establishment of the company group’s logistics centre and a 1200-square-metre capacity-increasing development project. The Minister spoke about the fact that following the 1989 regime change, Güntner was one of the first German investors in Hungary and began production on an area of 2 thousand square metres, and 30 years later it is now manufacturing world-class quality equipment on an area of 40 thousand square metres. The government signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the company in 2019.
Managing Director of the logistics centre, which bears the name Coolbridge Ltd., János Szabó told reporters that the company performs Güntner’s logistics tasks, and plays an integrating role in supplying the German company group’s plant with raw materials, and serving its clients. Coolbridge Ltd. operates on an area of 65 thousand square metres, including a 6500-square-metre warehouse, a 43 thousand-square-metre storage system, and an office building. The goods distribution centre realised as a result of the new investment began operations on 1 December 2019 with 70 employees. An average of 60 heavy goods vehicles arrive at the facility each day, meaning the loading and shipment of 300-400 palettes of finished goods to over 2500 addresses in over 60 countries on 5 continents.
Managing Director of Güntner-Tata Limited Tamás Schwarczenberger told reporters that the manufacturing of heat exchangers began at the plant in 1990 with just 31 employees. Over the past 30 years, the Tata plant has grown to become the company group’s largest production plant, employing 1300 people and realising 60.5 billion forints (EUR 169 million) in turnover in 2019. Güntner-Tata’s engineers develop new production technologies for the whole company group, in addition to which they help train the staff of Güntner facilities in Indonesia, Mexico and Romania, and are involved in the development of most production processes.
