Ideal Heating's new research and development centre in Hull has reached a significant construction milestone. The £19.2 million UK Technology Centre aims to support the development of low carbon technologies, including heat pumps, and to drive innovation in sustainable home heating solutions.
Backed by over £2 million in seed capital from Humber Freeport, the project has been recognized as pivotal for the Humber region's decarbonization efforts and transition to a net zero economy.
Key Features:
- Cutting-Edge Facilities: The 38,000 sq ft (3,500 sq m) centre will house simulators, test rigs, and environmental chambers to enhance the efficiency and performance of Ideal Heating's product portfolio.

Engineering Hub: The new centre will provide a purpose-designed space for the R&D team, covering roles in design, development, electronics, simulation, and product testing.

Heat Pump Testing: The facility will include a dedicated area for heat pump testing, along with workshop spaces and a training room.
Sustainability Initiatives:
- Renewable Energy: Roof-mounted solar panels will generate renewable electricity for the building.

Energy Efficiency: The centre will utilize air source heat pumps for mechanical heating, LED lighting, and controls to reduce energy consumption, along with high-performance building materials to minimize heat loss.
