IIR Launches AGRI-COOL Website to Boost Agricultural Sustainability in Africa

The International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR) has launched the AGRI-COOL website, a key resource for accessing information on addressing food security, climate resilience, and agricultural sustainability challenges in Africa. Following the project's start last June, this innovative initiative offers sustainable solutions to combat food waste, enhance food security, and mitigate climate change impacts.

AGRI-COOL implements advanced technologies, including photovoltaic-enabled food storage and cooling containers, thermal energy storage using phase-change materials, and smart refrigeration systems. The project includes pilot tests in rural communities in South Africa, Cape Verde, Somalia, and Zimbabwe and conducts lifecycle assessments aligned with the Paris Agreement.

The initiative involves 13 partners, led by the University of Twente in the Netherlands, and structured into eight Work Packages. IIR leads Work Package 8, focusing on stakeholder engagement and outreach. The AGRI-COOL website plays a crucial role in making the project accessible to researchers, policymakers, and industry stakeholders, featuring project overviews, site details, partner information, and the latest news.

Visit the website at https://agri-cool.eu/ for more information and updates.
