ILT has intercepted 1,150 illegal HFC cylinders with F-gases in port of Rotterdam

Last week the Environment and Transport Inspectorate (Inspectie Leefomgeving en Transport, ILT) in close collaboration with customs, Rijkswaterstaat and the European Commission (OLAF) intercepted non-refillable cylinders with refrigerants (F gases) during an inspection in the port of Rotterdam filled 1,150 illegal. The cargo was shipped from China and was further transported by truck in Hamburg to the designated destination Lithuania, but went to Rotterdam. There the cargo was cleared and the cargo was intercepted.

The found refrigerant cylinders could be used in refrigeration plants and air conditioners, both industrial and households. Leaks can occur when using such gases, especially if used incorrectly. The ILT has therefore taken all steps to prevent these 1,150 non-refillable cylinders from being placed on the European market or misused. The responsible parties must deliver these gas cylinders to an accredited collector and bear the costs involved. In addition, the ILT made official reports against them.
