Johnson Controls Delivers 30% Energy Savings at Indonesia’s Thamrin Nine Towers

Johnson Controls has completed a long-term partnership project with Thamrin Nine, a major mixed-use complex in Jakarta’s central business district, achieving up to 30% energy savings and securing BCA Green Mark Platinum certification for outstanding environmental performance.

As part of the project, Johnson Controls designed and implemented chiller systems, engineering solutions, and building automation for two skyscrapers in the complex — the 382.9-meter Autograph Tower, the tallest building in the Southern Hemisphere, and Luminary Tower. With full building systems in place, Johnson Controls will continue providing service and equipment maintenance to ensure long-term efficiency and performance.

The company delivered integrated, high-performance building solutions tailored to Thamrin Nine’s needs. This marks Johnson Controls’ first chiller optimization project in Indonesia, combining advanced technology and turnkey project management — from design and implementation to integration — to drive energy and cost savings. Highlights include:

• A 3,100-ton YORK chiller plant for Autograph Tower, operating at under 0.58 kW/TR and contributing to a 30% energy reduction, while maintaining occupant comfort and earning Green Mark Platinum certification.

• Three Energy Management System (EMS) units to optimize cooling and reduce energy demand at Luminary Tower, which houses three hospitality properties.

• Custom Air Handling Units (AHUs) and Fan Coil Units (FCUs) tailored for diverse commercial, retail, residential, and hospitality zones.

• Real-time analytics and monitoring via the Metasys Building Management System to detect and resolve issues proactively, enhancing reliability and minimizing maintenance costs.

• City-Centre Development (Singapore) – targeting a reduction of approximately 88,000 tons of CO₂ over 15 years via Energy Performance Contracting and Cooling-as-a-Service.
