Johnson Controls Showcases Advanced Sustainable Solutions for Data Centres at Data Centre World Asia 2024

Johnson Controls, the global leader in smart, healthy, and sustainable buildings, participated in Data Centre World Asia 2024, where the company showcased its innovative solutions for the rapidly growing data centre industry. With over 140 years of experience, Johnson Controls has been at the forefront of delivering sustainable infrastructure, advanced technology, and integrated solutions that optimize performance, energy efficiency, and security in mission-critical environments such as data centres.

During the event, Anu Rathninde, President of Asia Pacific at Johnson Controls, emphasized the company’s focus on sustainability, stating, "In a world where data centres consume up to 50 times more energy than traditional buildings, our commitment to sustainable infrastructure has never been more critical." Johnson Controls presented its customized and integrated solutions, empowering data centres to achieve peak operational performance while minimizing their environmental footprint.

Revolutionizing Data Centre Operations with Integrated Solutions

At Data Centre World Asia 2024, Johnson Controls highlighted its comprehensive portfolio of energy-efficient and resilient solutions, including HVAC, critical environmental monitoring, fire suppression, and security systems. These solutions were designed to enhance operations and asset protection throughout the lifecycle of data centres. Key features included:

  • Sustainable Performance: The company's advanced cooling technology, offering nearly 80% greater energy efficiency, was a highlight. Johnson Controls also promoted the use of ultra-low GWP refrigerants to ensure low-carbon performance in mission-critical environments.

  • Comprehensive Portfolio: The integrated suite of energy-efficient solutions covered life safety, asset protection, and sustainable cooling, all aimed at reducing costs and maximizing efficiency.

  • Trusted Expertise: Johnson Controls' four-step delivery model, including need assessment, solutioning, execution, and proactive service, ensured rapid project execution and continuous improvement through data-driven insights.

Proven Success in Data Centre Efficiency

Johnson Controls’ participation at the event also included showcasing its proven success with data centre clients across the Asia-Pacific region. In Sydney, Australia, the company’s OpenBlue platform optimized HVAC performance for a hyperscale data centre provider, resulting in over $70,000 in cost savings and more than 1 million kWh of energy saved in just eight months. In Japan, Johnson Controls successfully implemented a SCADA-based BMS and EPMS for a large co-location provider, ensuring global standards were met while addressing unique challenges such as the transition from air cooling to liquid cooling.

Leading the Conversation at Data Centre World Asia 2024

Johnson Controls played a key role in leading discussions at the event, with its leadership team participating in keynotes and panels on sustainable data centre infrastructure, smart building innovations, and integrated solutions for improving operational efficiency. The company’s vision for the future of data centres was showcased, highlighting how advanced technology can drive smarter, safer, and more resilient operations.

As the demand for data centres continues to rise, Johnson Controls remains well-positioned to meet the industry’s evolving needs. The company's commitment to innovation and sustainability is further demonstrated by the establishment of a dedicated Global Data Centre Solutions organization in June 2024.
