The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) of Jordan has released its Third National Energy Efficiency Action Plan (NEEAP) for 2024–2026. The plan sets out national measures to reduce energy consumption across key sectors and strengthen Jordan's climate and economic resilience.
The Cool Up programme contributed to the plan under “Component C6: Promoting Sustainable Cooling and the Use of Natural Refrigerants”, supporting the development of five targeted measures in the refrigeration and air conditioning (RAC) sector.
These measures include the establishment of a certification scheme for RAC technicians, capacity building and awareness campaigns on sustainable cooling, and the development of Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) and energy labelling for both commercial refrigeration and air conditioning. The plan also introduces financial incentives for energy-efficient appliances that use natural refrigerants.
The 3rd NEEAP continues the trajectory set by the two previous plans, highlighting Jordan’s ongoing commitment to energy efficiency. The measures backed by Cool Up aim to reduce RAC sector energy use, build technical expertise, and support the adoption of climate-friendly cooling technologies in line with the Kigali Amendment.
