Kaori Heat Treatment Co., Ltd. (Stock Code: 8996.TW) has published its latest Sustainability Report, marking three consecutive years of ISO 14064-1 compliant greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory with third-party verification. The company also became the first in Taiwan’s heat treatment and metal processing sector to complete comprehensive Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD), highlighting its dual focus on environmental and social responsibility.
Kaori began its GHG inventory in 2021 and has since extended third-party verified carbon reporting to both domestic and international operations, including its Ningbo facility in China. The company reports progress in identifying Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, promoting energy efficiency, adopting renewable energy, and assessing product carbon footprints to support long-term carbon neutrality goals.
The HRDD was conducted in alignment with the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs). It covered risk identification, employee surveys, and expert consultations, including input from migrant workers. Key areas addressed include occupational safety, labor rights, anti-discrimination, and mental health. The report outlines Kaori’s governance framework for human rights, corrective actions, and ongoing monitoring.
Among its recent ESG achievements, Kaori received a “B” rating from the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) in 2024, the highest rating among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The company has also installed over 1.2 MW of rooftop solar capacity at its Zhongli, Ziqiang, and Kaohsiung facilities, contributing to its renewable energy goals. Following its internal HRDD, Kaori plans to expand the process to its supply chain.
Guided by the principle “For Earth. For Us.”, Kaori states that it will continue to integrate ESG into product innovation, low-carbon processes, inclusive workplace initiatives, and digital risk management.
