The Middleby Corporation announced the acquisition of Frigomeccanica S.p.A., expanding its portfolio of food processing equipment. Frigomeccanica, based in Parma, Italy, specializes in solutions for drying, defrosting, fermentation, refrigeration, and preservation in the food processing industry. The company reports annual revenues of $30 million.
Middleby stated that the acquisition strengthens its full-line solutions for customers, with a focus on the growing protein segment. Frigomeccanica serves markets including dried meats, cured ham, and ready-to-eat foods, where Middleby is expanding its presence.
“Frigomeccanica brings complementary product expertise and extensive engineering capabilities to our food processing business,” said Tim FitzGerald, CEO of Middleby. “Recognized as a technology leader with solutions that offer operational efficiencies, Frigomeccanica advancements allow customers to extend product shelf life and deliver premium food quality to address the growing global demand for protein food sources.”
According to FitzGerald, Middleby plans to leverage its global sales network and European manufacturing footprint to drive synergies with Frigomeccanica and enhance long-term shareholder value after the company’s planned spinoff in 2026.
