Modine acquires Climate by Design International to expand IAQ offering

Modine has announced the acquisition of Climate by Design International (CDI), a Minnesota-based manufacturer of desiccant dehumidification technology and critical process air handlers. The acquisition strengthens Modine’s capabilities in specialty commercial indoor air quality (IAQ) solutions.

According to Modine, CDI’s technologies support humidity control in low-temperature environments such as pharmaceutical manufacturing and healthcare. The acquisition broadens Modine’s access to end markets including food processing, cold storage, battery manufacturing, and ice arenas. It also adds U.S.-based manufacturing capacity for air-handling systems.

“This acquisition enhances our ability to deliver integrated, high-performance systems to customers in healthcare, industrial, and food processing markets,” said Eric McGinnis, President of Climate Solutions at Modine.

CDI will be integrated into Modine’s Commercial IAQ portfolio. The company expects the acquisition to be accretive to earnings before synergies. Modine was advised by Oppenheimer & Co. Inc. on the transaction.
