A brand new technology center has started operation on Embraco Europe premises in Spisska Nova Ves, Slovakia. The new R&D and innovation hub will focus on development of commercial compressors.
The TechCenter includes Application and Electrical laboratories. There, compressors will be tested for use with propane or isobutane, the hydrocarbon refrigerants with low Global Warming Potential (GWP) index. As of 2020, these refrigerants will be compulsory in Europe also for commercial applications – for which the plant in Spisska Nova Ves produces most of its portfolio.

To keep testing in line with said regulations, the labs needed to be expanded and upgraded. Moreover, as customers are expecting from Embraco rapid responses in terms of testing and development of new applications, the new Application Lab will have four chambers. The two chambers used so far were booked by Embraco customers for several months in advance. In the Electrical Lab, seven test cabins for calorimeters have been implemented to perform a wide array of electrical tests.<ins cite="mailto:MARIAS09" datetime="2017-10-04T14:31"></ins>
