Nidec Corporation's Water-Cooling Modules Boost Energy Efficiency in Fujitsu's Optical Transmission Systems
Nidec Corporation has announced that its water-cooling modules have been adopted for use in the T900 and T950 models of Fujitsu Limited's 1FINITY series, a leading optical transmission system. This series enables high-speed, large-capacity data transmission in urban areas and between cities, significantly reducing electricity consumption.

The T900 and T950 models are the world's first optical transmission systems equipped with water-cooling technology. Here are the key features of Nidec's water-cooling modules that enhance the energy-saving performance and compact size of the 1FINITY series:

1. **Compact Design:** Nidec's water-cooling technology has reduced the product sizes from 6RU (Rack Unit) to 2RU, optimizing the entire unit's design by accommodating the water-cooling modules inside.
2. **High Cooling Performance:** These modules provide twice the cooling efficiency of air-cooling systems, further reducing the sizes of T900 and T950.
3. **Efficient & Energy-Saving:** The modules reduce electricity consumption by up to 50% compared to conventional units.

Nidec began mass production of these water-cooling modules, applying liquid-sealing technology for high-quality and reliability, and started supplying them in February 2023.

Committed to addressing global warming, Nidec is dedicated to improving lives by tackling heat-related technical challenges. These include issues related to the densification of semiconductors, the rapid spread of AI, and the spike in data quantity. By proposing advanced thermal management and energy-saving solutions, Nidec aims to reduce CO2 emissions and meet the growing global demand for electric power.
