Nordic Climate Group acquires three UK HVAC companies to expand regional presence

Nordic Climate Group has expanded its operations in the United Kingdom through the acquisition of three Yorkshire-based companies: Cactus Mechanical, Westcold Refrigeration, and Aircon Maintenance. The businesses, which specialize in refrigeration, air conditioning, and ventilation, bring a combined experience of over 50 years serving customers across Yorkshire and the wider UK.

Cactus Mechanical was founded in 2020 by Christopher Lightfoot, while Westcold Refrigeration was established in the 1980s by Colin Brown. Aircon Maintenance was launched in 2021. Together, the companies offer services including design, installation, technical delivery, and maintenance for clients in sectors such as hospitality, education, sports, and public buildings.

The three companies will continue operating under their existing names and from their current locations. Christopher Lightfoot will serve as CEO of the combined group, with both he and Colin Brown continuing in active roles to ensure business continuity.

“We felt that being part of Nordic Climate Group would be a great next step for our business, a business that we are very proud of, along with our approach to serving clients across the UK. We will keep our branding, culture and customer focused approach, and will now work alongside like-minded heating and cooling businesses across the UK and Ireland,” said Colin Brown, CEO of Westcold Refrigeration, and Christopher Lightfoot, CEO of Cactus Mechanical.

Fredrik Gren, President and Group CEO of Nordic Climate Group, stated: “These three companies have built a strong reputation for quality, technical competence and long-term customer relationships. Their local strength and hands-on way of working fit naturally with how we grow – supporting companies to remain who they are while giving them access to shared expertise and tools.”

With this acquisition, Nordic Climate Group now includes five companies in the UK, operating across England and Scotland, offering specialist expertise in cooling, heating, and climate solutions.
