Panasonic Introduces OASYS Residential Central Air Conditioning System in the US

Panasonic Corporation announced on January 7, 2025, the US launch of its OASYS Residential Central Air Conditioning System, developed by its Heating & Ventilation A/C Company (HVAC Company). Designed for highly airtight and insulated homes, OASYS is the first system of its kind in the US. It combines a Mini Split AC, Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV), and DC motor-driven transfer fans to achieve over 50% energy savings compared to conventional systems.

The OASYS system addresses challenges associated with traditional US central air conditioning systems, including uneven airflow, temperature variations, and noise from large transfer fans. By utilizing multiple DC motor-driven transfer fans, OASYS ensures uniform airflow and minimizes temperature differences across rooms. It also incorporates advanced air purification to enhance indoor air quality, reduces condensation risks, and mitigates mold growth in underfloor and attic spaces.

Market Expansion in the US

Panasonic’s Whisper series ventilation fans, first introduced in 1993, have established a strong foothold in the US, holding the second-largest market share. Known for their energy efficiency and low noise levels, these fans have earned Panasonic the ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award 14 times. To further support demand, Panasonic began producing ventilation fans locally in Mexico in 2016 and ERVs in 2023.

Addressing Growing Energy and Ventilation Needs

The release of OASYS aligns with increasing demand for energy-efficient solutions to replace gas heating systems in the US. Its integration of high-performance heat pumps, which provide both heating and cooling, meets the rising expectations for decarbonization and energy-saving technologies.

In addition to enhancing comfort and energy efficiency, the OASYS system supports home durability. Its air circulation minimizes temperature-induced wear on wooden structures and simplifies maintenance by allowing partial component replacements instead of entire system overhauls.

Showcasing the OASYS Concept

To demonstrate its capabilities, Panasonic will open an OASYS concept home in Houston, Texas, on January 22, 2025. The facility will provide builders and other B2B customers with an opportunity to experience the system firsthand.
