Photovoltaic panels on CAREL’s buildings

Photovoltaic panels on CAREL’s buildings

CAREL has started installing high-efficiency photovoltaic systems on the roofs of its production plants and new buildings at headquarters in Brugine. CAREL 5, home to the new Knowledge Center, and CAREL 6, the second building inaugurated in 2022, are already equipped with photovoltaic systems, representing the first stage in the company’s project for self-generation of electricity. The initiative will also see the addition of a further 355 kWp of power on the roofs in headquarters, thus reaching a total installed power of 421 kWp, and subsequently feasibility studies will be conducted for the installation of additional panels on the other buildings in Brugine.

As regards the Group’s foreign sites, a total power of approximately 850 kWp has already been installed and is partly active on the production plants in Croatia, Germany and China. For both CAREL Suzhou and the future project at Brugine headquarters, the systems chosen were manufactured and installed by Padova company FuturaSun. In China, 1,016 panels have been installed on the 6,000 m2 roof of the production building, accounting for 24% of industrial power consumption. In terms of the environmental benefits, it is estimated that this system, over its 25-year lifespan, will save up to 13,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions.

Carlotta Rossi Luciani, CAREL’s Sustainability Executive Director, stated: “CAREL has always embraced the concept of sustainable development, applying it to its entire production chain. This project increases the company’s commitment to reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, as well as encouraging the responsible use of energy resources, thus contributing to combating climate change both as part of its own production processes and through the identification and the development of increasingly sustainable products and services”.
