UK-based Resource Data Management (RDM) is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2025, highlighting recent leadership changes, product innovation, and a growing focus on sustainability and new industry sectors.
Founded in 2000, RDM has built its business on open protocol control systems, lifetime software licences, and technical support, serving clients in retail, cold chain, and hospitality. In early 2025, founder Andrew Chandler retired, and Ged Evans, previously Operations Director, assumed the role of CEO. Under his leadership, RDM joined the Scale up Scotland programme and launched a leadership academy as part of expanded internal training efforts across the UK and US.
“The continued development of our team has been the biggest highlight for me so far,” said Evans. “The first cohort finished our leadership academy and we started training with our sales teams in the UK and the US to create a global standard.”
New strategic roles were introduced in 2025 to support the company’s growth, including the position of Head of Technology. David Drysdale-Wilson was appointed to lead RDM’s product innovation, focusing on mobile and backend capabilities, embedded security, and the use of AI and machine learning (AI/ML) to enhance predictive systems and operational efficiency.
“I’m particularly excited by the opportunities of AI and machine learning,” said Drysdale-Wilson. “These trends are helping engineering teams build smarter, safer, and more responsive solutions that have a real impact for customers.”
RDM is also expanding into sectors beyond its core markets, including government infrastructure, pharmaceuticals, and education. In the hospitality segment, the company has reported success with quick service restaurants (QSRs), providing platforms that support energy management, maintenance automation, and alert systems for high-volume operations.
Sustainability remains a central focus, with significant reductions in scope 1 and 2 emissions achieved over the past two years. The company now aims to address scope 3 emissions across its operations.
“We are about to embark on our biggest challenge to date and add scope 3,” said Evans. “We have a dedicated resource at HQ but to succeed... it will require input and action across the business.”
