Samsung completes acquisition of European HVAC manufacturer FläktGroup

Samsung Electronics has finalized the acquisition of FläktGroup, a leading European HVAC company, aiming to expand its global presence in the commercial air conditioning and data centre sectors.

As part of the agreement, FläktGroup and its subsidiaries—including Woods Air Movement, SEMCO, and SE-Elektronic—will operate as an independent subsidiary under Samsung Electronics. The company will retain its existing name, management, personnel, and facilities to preserve its technological expertise and brand identity.

Samsung intends to utilize FläktGroup’s production and sales infrastructure to enhance research and development and strengthen its supply chain. The integration will focus on combining FläktGroup’s HVAC control systems with Samsung’s platforms such as SmartThings Pro and b.IoT to expand smart building solutions and energy efficiency offerings.

The acquisition supports Samsung’s plan to develop its HVAC business as a key growth engine within its Device eXperience (DX) Division. The company also plans to invest in commercial HVAC solutions and target fast-growing sectors, including AI data centres.

In parallel, Samsung is addressing increasing demand for large-scale HVAC systems in regions such as Korea, North America, and Europe, across industries including manufacturing, healthcare, and biopharmaceuticals. The move complements its joint venture with Lennox in North America, further reinforcing its regional capabilities.

“This marks a strategic move for Samsung, aimed at leading the global HVAC and data centre markets,” said TM Roh, President and Acting Head of the DX Division at Samsung Electronics. “By merging FläktGroup’s technological expertise with Samsung’s AI platforms, we aim to set a new benchmark in the industry.”

FläktGroup, with over 100 years of technical experience, operates more than 10 HVAC production bases and maintains a global sales and service network. The company supplies solutions to multiple industries and has developed customized systems for the data centre and AI sectors. It also supports global customers through its North America data centre team and international account team based in Singapore.

“Joining Samsung will accelerate FläktGroup’s global market expansion and drive technological innovation,” said Trevor Young, CEO of FläktGroup.
