Scotsman unveils Legacy concept at Host 2021

The Legacy from Scotsman is a concept that the company believes shows the future of ice machines. Unveiled at Host 2021, the self-contained icemaker features a variety of innovations, ranging from the materials it is made from to its internal components. And while these innovations deliver significant benefits, not least an increased production capacity compared to the equivalent EC Scotsman machine, it will probably be the striking looks – black, sleek, glossy and contoured – that create a buzz with visitors to Host.

The Legacy is built using black stainless steel, a special alloy finish, and tempered glass. It combines a modern retro aesthetic with a 3D grid profile and will make a statement in any back bar or front of house setting.

The advanced construction materials ensure this is a robust machine that is built to last. The concave front improves the internal airflow, boosting production, while the high-performance insulation enhances operation. Meanwhile the cutting-edge evaporator has been tested using the hardest waters and carries TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) verifications. The Legacy is available using eco-friendly R290 refrigerant and, despite its compact size, it can make up to 44kg of gourmet supercube ice per day, 10% more than the equivalent EC model (the EC86). It’s integral storage bin holds up to 19kg of ice.

The Legacy also features Scotsman’s XSafe, the innovative hygiene system that destroys viruses and bacteria as well as significantly reducing the formation of mould, yeast, mildew, slime and odours in icemakers.

“The Legacy is a truly exciting and innovative project that points the way for future icemaker design,” says David Rees, marketing manager of Hubbard Ice Systems, which distributes the Scotsman range in the UK. “It will be fascinating to get feedback from Host visitors to see how they react to it’s radical design and looks.”
