Sensitron Unveils SMART 3 Blizzard Gas Detector at Intersec 2025

Sensitron, a Halma plc company, introduces the SMART 3 Blizzard gas detector at Intersec 2025 in Dubai. Designed for the HVAC-R industry, the SMART 3 Blizzard combines advanced wireless technology with user-friendly features to enhance gas monitoring safety and efficiency.

A key innovation of the device is its wireless interface, enabling remote management without the need for physical access. This reduces direct exposure to sensitive parts, improving user safety and simplifying routine operations.

Marco Passadori, Managing Director of Sensitron, emphasized the importance of the wireless feature:
“The idea for the wireless interface came from one of our engineers, and we immediately saw its potential. SENSE, our new interface, improves safety and usability, marking the first step towards a safer world, for both the environment and the workers using these systems every day.”

Enhanced Interaction with SENSE Technology

The SMART 3 Blizzard is equipped with “SENSE,” an advanced user interface that streamlines settings management and provides real-time data access. This feature reflects Sensitron’s focus on intuitive, customer-centric solutions.

Emanuele Barbieri, HVAC-R Global Account Manager at Sensitron, stated:
“SENSE isn’t just a name; it’s how we connect with our customers. It’s about designing a product that not only detects gases but understands how users interact with it. This is the future.”

High Accuracy and Sustainability

Using infrared sensors, the SMART 3 Blizzard delivers high accuracy and a long lifespan, achieving SIL2 certification. It detects refrigerant gases such as R32, R454B, and R410A, helping reduce greenhouse gas emissions and supporting global sustainability goals.

Passadori highlighted the environmental benefits:
“By detecting refrigerant gases like R32 and R410A early, we can cut down on harmful emissions and make a real difference in protecting the environment.”

Features and Applications

The SMART 3 Blizzard is designed for use in HVAC-R systems and non-classified areas, including machinery rooms and onboard equipment. It offers a range of customizable features, including:
  • Adjustable alarm thresholds
  • Downloadable test certificates
  • Multilingual support
  • Password-protected maintenance reports
Barbieri noted the industry impact of the device’s wireless capabilities:
“The shift toward wireless technology is an important step for the industry, and the SMART 3 Blizzard reflects this evolution. We’re looking forward to seeing how it enhances gas detection practices and supports safer, more efficient operations.”

The SMART 3 Blizzard will be showcased at Intersec 2025, from January 14–16, in Hall 4, Stand B22.
