Star Refrigeration at ICR 2019

Star engineers take their knowledge in the industrial refrigeration market global as they prepare for the IIR International Congress of Refrigeration in Canada.

One of the biggest names in industrial refrigeration in the UK is sponsoring the world’s most notable conference on refrigeration. 25 th IIR International Congress of Refrigeration takes place in Montreal from August 24th to 30th, and Star Refrigeration will be in attendance to exhibit its unique products alongside its top team of keynote speakers.

The 2019 congress theme is Refrigeration for Human Health and Future Prosperity. Papers and seminars will explore current issues such as energy efficiency, reducing global warming, protecting the ozone layer and the effect on food supply. As experts in natural refrigeration solutions, particularly low charge ammonia cooling systems, which have zero global warming effect, Star Refrigeration is well placed to sponsor this prominent event, and share the company’s decades of experience and research.

Dr Rob Lamb, Group Sales and Marketing Director of Star Refrigeration said, “It’s really important we work together as an industry, in the UK and internationally, to tackle today’s refrigeration challenges. The International Institute of Refrigeration hosts a number of events to promote networking and the sharing of ideas within the industry, with the International Congress being one of the most prestigious on the calendar.

“We are really fortunate to be able to represent the UK’s industrial refrigeration engineering field and sponsor the conference. This year is set to be the biggest audience yet, with thousands of scientists, engineers, technicians and academics attending from all over the world”.

The International Institute of Refrigeration has members from 58 countries representing manufacturers, government agencies, research facilities and educational institutions. The congress occurs every four years and showcases the latest refrigeration, heat pump and air conditioning technologies and research. The event’s location has an exceptional significance as Montreal is the city where the original Montreal Protocol on substances that deplete the ozone layer (such as CFCs and HFCs) was signed in 1987.

The IIR extended an invitation to Star Refrigeration to disseminate knowledge at the conference. Star will be providing seminars on two significant topics including natural refrigerants and energy performance. Group MD of Star Refrigeration, Dr Andy Pearson, will be delivering a paper entitled ‘Energy performance of industrial cold storage facilities’ which focuses on making improvements in the energy efficiency of cold stores. Also in the line-up of speakers is Dr Rob Lamb, who will be presenting research on the ‘Experiences with selecting natural refrigerant solutions for small capacity industrial food production and temperature controlled storage applications’. His paper looks at the use of both ammonia and carbon dioxide in industrial refrigeration applications. It discusses refrigerant and system selection and key criteria including safety, energy efficiency, cooling capacity and capital cost.

Star Refrigeration will be taking part in the exhibition across the four days, at Booth 409.

25-th ICR takes place at The Palais des congrès de Montréal, Montréal, Québec, Canada, August 24-30th 2019.
