Sustainable Collaboration with the COOP Supermarket Chain in the Netherlands

FREOR and COOP have long-term ties of collaboration. The companies share key values, like Thinking Green and consistently delivering sustainable results while working together to give customers the best possible experience.

This year we have supplied commercial refrigeration equipment for six COOP stores. They chose environmentally-friendly cooling solutions from FREOR’s Green Wave R290 and CO2 ranges, which use natural refrigerants that are non-toxic and have zero ozone depletion potential (ODP) as well as zero or negligible global warming potential (GWP). Installation of the equipment from the Green Wave lines was handled by FREOR’s partner in the region – Koelservice van Tol.

COOP stores meet their refrigeration needs with FREOR Green Wave offerings:
  • LEDA and LEDA COMPACT freezer islands, which provide an excellent view of products and adapt to fit all spaces. LEDA is ideal for more spacious stores, LEDA COMPACT for those that mind every square meter.
  • ERIDA freezer cabinets, with anti-condensation foil on the inner glass to eliminate fogging when the freezer is opened.
  • Spacious JUPITER LOW FRONT multideck reach-in refrigerators with a lowered front height, which are suitable for any food products and boost sales by ensuring great product visibility.
  • MERCURY multideck cabinets – an eye-catching, compact way to display merchandise anywhere in the store.
  • VESTA QB stainless-steel serve-over counters, whose unique design offers excellent visibility of items to encourage purchases.
  • IDA S H2 self-service counters – promotional display showcases that encourage impulse buying, with wheels enabling them to be moved at any time to suit the store’s needs.
  • PLUTON SPACE semi vertical display cabinets with broad, comfortable reach at the customer’s eye level.

With the FREOR equipment, COOP has chosen either the Hydroloop Glycol or autonomous Plug & Play cooling systems using propane (R290) gas as a reliable refrigerant, or a remote cooling system adapted to work on non-toxic CO₂ (R744) refrigerant.

FREOR is grateful for the opportunity to work with environmentally friendly companies like the COOPchain and looks forward to further collaboration of this kind in the future.
