ThermalWorks has completed the installation of six 1 MW chillers in a single day at the Edged Phoenix data center campus in Arizona. The units use a closed-loop, waterless cooling system designed to support high-density, AI-driven workloads, aiming to reduce water use in a region facing growing water scarcity.
The system installed at Edged Phoenix eliminates water evaporation, helping conserve local water resources. According to ThermalWorks, the modular design enables rapid deployment and supports cooling densities of up to 70 kW per rack with air cooling and 200 kW per rack with integrated liquid cooling. The company's systems report an average Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.15 across its portfolio.
The data center is part of a broader rollout of ThermalWorks cooling technology across multiple Edged sites in the United States, including Chicago, Kansas City, Dallas, Columbus, and Atlanta.
“The ThermalWorks system offers a rapidly scalable, future-ready solution for a warming planet,” the company stated.
