The Board of Directors has made an important decision that aims to future-proof the position of the Westfalen Group production division. The Board of Directors plans to significantly develop the Gelmer site by the middle of 2019. Significant sections of the plant divisions that are currently located at Gremmendorf are to be relocated to the 93 thousand square metre company reserve area next to the Gelmer site.
In future the extended site at Gelmer will, for example, be able to fill the whole product segment of refrigerants. There will also be expanded refrigerant recycling at Gelmer. Modern propane filling and a hub for technical gases is also planned. The central workshop, the electrical workshop, bundling and an acetylene hub will be established in Gelmer. The motor vehicle garage, on the other hand, will be moved from Gremmendorf to Hörstel as our tank trucks are stationed there.
A variety of options and locations are currently being reviewed for the gas cylinder test centre, which has so far been located at the Gremmendorf site but is not economically viable under the current conditions. The final decision has not yet been made.
All relocation activities are subject to regulatory approval by the Münster District Government.
"The decisions being made all serve to significantly increase the efficiency of production in connection with the logistics chain of the Westfalen Group, and thereby to ensure our long-term competitiveness with regard to customer supply", emphasised Wolfgang Fritsch-Albert, Chief Executive Officer of Westfalen AG.
