Global Heat Pump Demand to Rise 5.6% Annually Through 2027
The global demand for heat pumps is projected to grow at an annual rate of 5.6%, reaching $46.1 billion by 2027, according to a study by the Freedonia Group. This surge is primarily driven by increased unit sales, making heat pumps the fastest-growing segment among major HVAC equipment.

Heat pumps offer year-round comfort by providing both heating and cooling without additional equipment. They are highly energy-efficient and can be installed in buildings lacking ductwork, appealing to energy-conscious consumers.

Asia, particularly Japan and China, leads the global heat pump market, accounting for 69% of the demand in 2022. Growth is predominantly driven by China, where infrastructure supports their installation.

In Europe, heat pump sales are expected to grow over 8% annually between 2022 and 2027, fueled by EU initiatives to enhance energy efficiency and reduce reliance on carbon-intensive energy sources. Significant market share gains and rapid sales growth are anticipated across the continent.
