Solid state cooling market to reach USD 1.93 billion by 2030

The global solid state cooling market is projected to grow from USD 0.97 billion in 2025 to USD 1.93 billion by 2030, at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 14.8%, according to a new report by MarketsandMarkets.

Growth is driven by increasing demand for compact, silent, and energy-efficient thermal management in medical and diagnostic equipment, electric vehicles (EVs), and semiconductor testing. The technology is also gaining traction due to stricter environmental regulations and advances in thermoelectric materials that improve system efficiency and scalability. Solid state cooling offers maintenance-free and vibration-free operation, which appeals to both industrial and consumer applications.

The consumer electronics and semiconductors segment is expected to lead the market by 2030. This is attributed to widespread use in devices such as smartphones, sensors, laptops, and testing equipment, where compact and precise cooling is essential. Solid state cooling supports temperature stability during semiconductor fabrication and testing, and its adoption is fueled by continued growth in electronics production, especially in Asia Pacific.

The refrigeration systems segment is forecast to record the highest CAGR between 2025 and 2030. Solid state refrigeration is increasingly adopted in medical storage units, vaccine carriers, and premium home appliances due to its silent operation, precise temperature control, and elimination of harmful refrigerants.

North America is expected to hold the second-largest market share by 2030, supported by strong demand in medical diagnostics, aerospace, automotive, and semiconductor sectors. The region benefits from early adoption, R&D programs, and the presence of key system integrators.

Major players in the solid state cooling market include Ferrotec Holdings Corporation (Japan), Coherent Corp. (US), Delta Electronics, Inc. (Taiwan), Solid State Cooling Systems (US), Komatsu Ltd. (Japan), Same Sky (US), and Tark Thermal Solutions (US).
