Carrier Transicold Launches Three New Solutions to Support Fleet Electrification and Sustainability

Carrier Transicold has announced three new offerings aimed at enhancing sustainability and supporting the transition to electric refrigerated transport. The updates include new emissions-tracking capabilities in Lynx Fleet, the eCool-Drive power converter for electric tractors, and the [R]eCool retrofit system for electric refrigeration.

The enhanced Lynx Fleet platform now includes real-time tracking of carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions and fuel costs, with reports aligned to the Vehicle Energy Consumption Calculation Tool (VECTO). Fleet managers can receive intelligent recommendations tailored to specific operational behaviors, helping to reduce emissions and improve energy efficiency. Future updates will expand the system’s capabilities, including alerts for operational inefficiencies such as prolonged door openings or undercharged batteries.

The new eCool-Drive module is a 20-kW power converter designed to enable compatibility between electric tractors and refrigerated semi-trailers. It converts high-voltage direct current from a tractor’s battery into the alternating current needed to operate Carrier’s Vector refrigeration units. The system supports the electrification of existing diesel units, allowing fleets to adopt electric solutions without replacing equipment. It complies with R10 and R100 standards and was co-developed with manufacturers of heavy-duty electric vehicles.

[R]eCool is an electric retrofit system that allows existing Vector units to operate in hybrid or fully electric mode. It provides battery-electric, engineless operation, with charging handled through a standard three-phase standby socket and an under-chassis battery powering the unit during transit. The system supports both new trailer installations and retrofits, and is certified to R100 and R10 standards. Developed with Addvolt’s technology—following Carrier’s acquisition of the company—[R]eCool is designed for long-term use, with the battery pack expected to last over 12 years.

“With more than two decades of expertise in E-Drive technology, we designed the [R]eCool system to empower fleet operators to easily electrify their existing fleet,” said Jean-Michel Vadecard, Product Director, Truck Trailer International, Carrier Transicold. “It offers a 100% electric solution designed to meet the evolving demands of urban logistics while unlocking greater value from existing fleets.”
