Carrier Transicold has introduced the Vector 8200, an all-electric, engineless trailer refrigeration unit (TRU) designed for stationary cold storage applications. The new system offers single- and multi-temperature capabilities and operates entirely on external electric power sources, eliminating the emissions, noise, and operating costs associated with diesel engines.
The Vector 8200 uses Carrier’s TRU-Demand E-Drive energy management system to optimize power consumption. It adjusts automatically to fluctuations in facility electrical supply, maintaining consistent voltage during brownouts and reducing grid impact when multiple units restart after outages. Four remote evaporator options allow cooling configurations for one-, two-, or three-compartment trailers.
The Vector 8200 provides a cooling capacity of up to 58,000 BTU/h (approx. 17 kW) at 35°F (1.7°C) and includes electric heating and defrost capabilities. Advanced APX controls feature IntelliSet technology with ProductShield for precise temperature management, and Lynx Fleet telematics integration enables remote monitoring and two-way control. Key components include a hermetic electric scroll compressor, high-efficiency microchannel condenser, maintenance-free AC fan motors, and an electronic expansion valve. Optional features include a 40-amp battery charger and a TRU-mounted solar charging system.
“As companies seek to manage their operating costs and impact on neighbors and the environment, the Vector 8200 is a quiet, durable, intelligent all-electric solution for single- or multi-temperature trailer storage,” said Arthur Pluta, Electrification Product Manager, Truck Trailer Americas, Carrier Transicold.
The Vector 8200 is positioned to support operators seeking sustainable and cost-effective cold storage solutions while meeting increasing regulatory pressures for emissions reductions.
